With the holiday season well upon us, it easy to lose sight of what’s truly important. More than ever, we feel fatigued with our practices and our lives. The days seem long and yet they flow into one another and it kind of feels like we are just about hanging on for the ride, physically, emotionally and spiritually.

Our minds feel cluttered with worrying thoughts about the past and anxiety regarding the future. With our schedules being the way they are, overflowing and unforgiving, we often spend our days in the chaos of crisis. Being exposed to so many emotions in the midst of stressful situations like the urgency of easing a patient’s pain, frustration when the patient’s illness gets worse, uncertainty in clinical practice causes deep, lasting unhappiness, negatively affecting chiropractor health. Despair permeates our lives and negativity almost becomes our second nature.

But, we have a choice. We’ve had it all along.

Where should we choose to focus our energies? On what’s wrong and not working for us? Then, that my friend, is what manifests into our realities.

Are we looking at our glasses (read practices!) half empty or half full? Do we feel alive, driven by our chosen purpose as chiropractors? Should only focus on making a living or creating a life?

Answers to these questions could very well determine our attitudes and outlooks towards our lives.

Here are 3 ways in which we can put in the inner work required to unlock the true potential of the mind, develop a winning mindset and begin to create the magical lives we all deserve to have:

1. Objection Thinking – We have over 60,000 thoughts in a day!

These thoughts can be perceived as vital, living, little bundles of energy. A majority of these are unfortunately, negative energy draining thoughts. Is it any wonder then that we end up feeling drained and gloomy when we give negative thoughts our attention?

By using objection thinking, we can easily create a positive winning mindset within a short period. Try this – Whenever an undesirable or negative thought occupies your mind, immediately become aware of it presence. Immediately, replace the thought with an uplifting one.

For example – You have just had a tough day at your practice. Its been physically demanding, you ache all over, you feel hostage to your own practice and you hear that one of your patient’s condition took a turn for the worse.

“Why is this happening to me?”

“I feel so exhausted.”

“I’m not good enough.”

“Running this practice is killing me!”

Become closely aware of the thoughts in your mind right now. Write them down.

Next, appreciate that you can replace the negative thoughts with cheerful ones. Concentrate and really feel that you are happy.

Maybe sit up straighter, take a few deep breaths and train your focus on being positive in that moment. Not in denial of whats happening but remaining objective.

And write down the positive thoughts in direct opposition to the negatives.

You will begin to notice a remarkable difference in a few minutes. Keep practicing this and soon, every negative thought that habitually visits you will no longer have any power over you!

2. Picture Your Best Self –

This practice is based on the ancient principle that everything is created twice. First, in our minds, in our thoughts and then in reality. When we start our day, how do we visualize our day unfolding?

Before you jump into your day’s routine, take a few moments. Close your eyes and envision the day you’d like to have. See the best version of yourself going through the day and doing all that you want to.

Go further and see your practice thriving in the way you would like it to. Picture yourself in peak chiropractor health, acting gracefully and loving in every difficult situation. Mentally reharse the way you govern your actions. This simple, yet powerful practice, that can be done anywhere really, can be applied to so many situations. As with everything, consistent practice will yield fantastic abundance in your life.

3. Run Your Own Race –

We are constantly bombarded with updates about our friends, peers and families. It is so very tempting to compare or feel ourselves to be superior, or inferior to others. There is truly nothing noble about feeling superior over another. If we want to improve our lives, we must run our own race.

It really doesn’t matter what people say about us. What counts is what we say about ourselves. As long as we are living in alignment with our heart and conscience, we should do as we please. Lets stick to our convictions and avoid measuring our self-worth with others. After all, every second we spend thinking about someone else’s dreams, we take time away from our own.

There you have it. Three powerful practices or lets call them, mindset alignments that we can apply to our lives right away!

Remember, if you feel that you don’t have the time in your busy life for these practices to create a winning mindset, that’s like saying you don’t have time to stop for gas because you are too busy driving! Eventually it will catch up with you.

Being a professional chiropractor with your practice can feel like being an athlete at times, doesn’t it? And like with most successful, fulfilled athletes, it is essential to have a coach to guide and help enhance chiropractor health to perform at higher levels by developing healthy strategies for the mind, body, and the business.
